Melisa Novotna is Czech born, London and Cambridge based multidisciplinary artist holding a Masters in Fine Art. Her practice covers areas of video, painting installations and photography which focuses on ways of seeing and surveillance. Surveillance in the work engages the viewer to recognize the connection between looking and being looked at through different eyes, technology and reality. The usual figures appearing on Melisa’s paintings are close friends and people from local communities. The inspiration for composition, painting technique and concept comes from artist like Edward Hopper and Wilhelm Sasnal.
